New partnership: Universidad de los Andes
Universidad de los Andes Department of Music join us for the Music Diplomacy Week.
The Universidad de los Andes is an autonomous, independent and innovative institution that promotes pluralism, tolerance and respect for ideas; which seeks academic excellence and provides its students with critical and ethical training to strengthen their awareness of their social and civic responsibilities, as well as their commitment to the environment. It has students who, in an environment of comprehensive, interdisciplinary and flexible training, are the main agent of its educational process. It facilitates its highly trained teaching staff to develop an outstanding academic and professional life project, for which it supports a research activity that contributes to the development of the country and its international projection.
The Universidad de los Andes Department of Music has its roots in the interdisciplinary, flexible and comprehensive training environment with which the University of the Andes is conceived. From very early in its history, the University offered all students courses in musical appreciation and history of music as part of the academic alternatives for the integration of the arts, sciences, technology and the humanities. In 2008, the Department received accreditation from the National Accreditation Council and in 2016 the Master’s Degree in Music was opened with lines of deepening and research in interpretation, composition and musicology.
In November 2023 the Universidad de los Andes Department of Music joined us for the Music Diplomacy Week program, a Pan-American exchange program that aims to promote intercultural understanding through music.
The Music Diplomacy Week will take place in Miami bringing together musicians and singers from different countries of the Americas, for an intense week of co-creative sessions of song writing, music business master classes, academic counseling, and cultural visits that will also expose the participants to the vibrant Miami local culture.
