THE HERITAGE GAZETTE
A weekly read of traditional singing in the Americas

The Heritage Gazette follows what moves in the traditional singing of the Americas: festivals, archive releases, research, awards, losses and revivals. Every item is dated and linked to its source. It reads sources in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, is prepared with AI and reviewed by the institute under our AI Charter.

WHY IT MATTERS

MAKE VISIBLE
Show what is still alive

Traditional singing changes or disappears quietly. Dated, linked items make it visible.

CONNECT
Link people who never meet

Archives, festivals, universities and singers rarely read each other. The Gazette puts them on one page.

GIVE BACK
Every item goes back to its source

Each entry links to the people and organizations who did the work, and nothing is published without credit.

VOICE OF THE MONTH

NOVEMBER 2026
Canto a lo poeta, Chile

Canto a lo poeta is Chile’s tradition of sung poetry in décimas, ten-line stanzas, sung to the guitarrón chileno or the guitar. Its singers, the cantores and cantoras, sing a lo divino, on sacred themes, and a lo humano, on everyday life. In 2026 the community validated a nomination file to UNESCO’s Representative List.
